Summary
Pastoral ministry in English-speaking congregations in Europe offers remarkable experiences in multi-cultural, international, ecumenical parish ministry. Such experiences, and the insights gained from them, can provide models of faithful and effective ministry for North American congregations. This is particularly true as all churches live into a future marked by increasingly complex, international, multi-cultural and ecumenical realities.
The research I intend will explore how pastoral leadership can identify the gifts offered within such a context and bring them to faithful expression within the congregational community in such a way that the community experiences true “Koinonia” -- a caring life together -- lived out in sacrificial servanthood to a wider community and in a worship life centered around word and sacraments.
